Configuring your modem to connect to
Optraweb Internet Solutions
1.
Click on your
button (where you start all your programs from).
- Click
on Programs.
- Click
on Accessories.
- Click
on Dial-Up Networking.
- You
should then have a screen similar to below.
- Point
on the Optraweb Internet Icon and press your right mouse button.
- Click
on Properties on the popup menu that appears.

- Your
screen will look a little different if you are using the earlier
release of Windows 95, there will be a button instead of a row
of Tabs up top for Server Types and Scripting is not on this
screen.
- Ensure
the "Area code" is left blank.
- You
can change the "Telephone number" to the dialin number
you were given upon signing up.
- "Country
code" should be set to Australia (61).
- Click
on the Configure button.

- Ensure
that you have your modem configured to the correct "Port".
- "Maximum
speed" should usually be set as follows:
33.6 modem 38400
28.8 modem 38400
14.4 modem 19200
9600 modem 9600
Click
on the Connection tab.

- The
defaults on this page should not be changed.
- (A)
Click on the Advanced button to change your modem initialization
string.
- (B)
Click on the Port Setting button to change your port settings.
- In
the "Extra settings" is where you put our recommended
initialization string.
- "Use
flow control" should be checked and set to "Hardware
(RTS/CTS)" by default.
Click the OK button.
- "Use
FIFO buffers (requires 16550compatible UART)" should be
checked and set to default by clicking on the Defaults button
- Click
the OK button.
- Click
on the Options tab.
- There
should be no tick on either "Bring up terminal window before
dialing" or" Bring up terminal window after dialing".
- "Display
modem status" should be checked.
- Click
the OK button
- Click
on the Server type tab or button.
- The
only ticks that should be on this page are "Enable software
compression" and" TCP/IP".
- Click
the TCP/IP settings button.
- There
should be a dot in front of "Server assigned IP" address
and "Server assigned name server addresses".
- There
should be a tick in front of "Use IP header compression"
and "Use default gateway" on remote network.
- If
your computer is connected on a Local Area Network you may need
to talk to your Network Administrator.
- Click
on the OK button.
- Click
on the scripting tab if there is a tab for it otherwise ignore
this bit.
- Ensure
there is nothing in "File name" for "Script file".
- Click
on the OK button
Close
the Dial-Up networking folder.
