Billion 711 Ethernet Router Config

This walkthrough assumes you have already set your Network Interface card to "Obtain IP address automatically". If you are using the Router in USB mode this walkthrough assumes you have already setup the Billion USB Network adapter and it is set to "Obtain IP address automatically".

Start or Restart your computer so it obtains an IP address from the router (If you have not already done so.)

1) Open internet explorer and Type in "http://192.168.1.254/" and press "Enter"

2) A Logon box will appear. Type in the username "admin" and the password "password" and click "OK"

3) You should now see the Billion Web Interface. Click "Wan" under the "Configuration" section on the Left

4) Scroll Down to the "Encapsulation" section

5) For encapsulation Choose "PPPOE LLC".Under the section "PPP" enter the Service Name as "Optraweb", Username as "yourusername@optraweb.your-dsl.net" and your password then scroll to the bottom of the page. The easiest way to ensure there are no mistakes is to cut and paste from your email.

6) Click Submit Then click on "DNS" under "Configuration"

7) Choose "Auto Discovery + user configured" and enter the Primary and secondary namerservers as 203.194.27.57 & 203.194.56.150 respectively then click "Submit"

8) Click on the "Save Settings" link under "Configuration" on the left
then click "Submit" to save the settings and reboot the router

9) After about 60 seconds, access the Billion Web Interface again and you should now see an IP address under "WAN" on the main page. You should now be connected. Type in a web address to test eg http://www.optraweb.com.au/
